R.I.P. The Legendary David Bowie

January 11, 2016 9:13 pm
Really terrific comment Sean. Your observations and summary are really spot on. I was just speaking with a friend on the phone and we both also described Bowie as an alien. You stated it so perfectly. He came, he gave, he left. I have also never witnessed such a massive, spontaneous and genuine outpouring of grief and tributes such as we have seen today for David Bowie. It's really something special

Mick Ronson was the first of many collaborations which ended with Ziggy Stardust. Incredible guitarist, musician, performer and producer in his own right. He also died of liver cancer back in 1993. oh so you travelled West towards Kensington! Now I'm speechless finding out you also visited him in Berlin!  I won't lie and say I'm not incredibly jealous. I'm not surprised about the books, he had a huge thirst for knowledge and was just interested in so much. Thanks for posting the video and lyrics for Ziggy Stardust. Very strong and powerful memories are surging around my brain right now

Unbelievable Taxi! Thanks for sharing these incredible details. I'm jealous (extremely!). I'm imagining that metallic red cadillac gliding past Mornington Crescent, whizzing past the Music Machine, flying along Camden High Street (you probably could in those relatively traffic free days), coasting up Chalk Farm Road and cruising up Haverstock Hill with Roeg senior and Bowie up front and Roeg junior and our Taxi in the back soaking up an incredible moment in time. Too good

Thanks for the links Sean. He was also a genius with collaboration and he got the best out of so many other musicians. There would have been no "Transformer" by Lou Reed (produced by Bowie and Mick Ronson) as well as Iggy Pop and his best material and so many more. He was a great genius and human being who meant a lot to me and so many others.  I could go on all day and night (and for the rest of the week) so I'd better stop here and go and listen to Hunky Dory. For anyone in the UK there is a tribute on Channel 4 tonight around 10.30pm

Thanks Taxi, again. How wonderful that you had the privilege of meeting him which also allowed him the privilege to meet you too. I'm absolutely sure he was pro Palestine because he was the ultimate universal human being and that position would have been natural for him. But I'm grateful for this additional information and insight. Another great track "wild is the wind". Thank you!

Thanks Taxi. As mentioned on another post, he was the most important and influential musician in my life. I've been listening to David Bowie since I was 10 years old and I still remember hearing the ziggy stardust album for the first time in the early 70s and it blew me away. One of my favourite albums of all time is Hunky Dory which still sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it and I never get bored of it. And I absolutely adore this track you have chosen for us from the Aladin Sane album. Just beautiful with the cascading piano and haunting vocals. Great choice! He deserved a longer life for the incredible and amazing contribution he made. RIP David Bowie

Many thanks for the book list Sean. I think I've only read around 15% (I'm ashamed to say) but some of them are going to be immediately added to my reading list!

The Empty Space Between Hammer and Nail

Thanks Taxi, once again for your perspective. I love the title Reminds me of a song: "there's something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear". There are so many events happening all over the place but when you join up the dots they're all related.  Sometimes I think I need a huge map/flowchart on the wall just to try and keep track. I also get the feeling that something bigger and nastier is about to happen but I'm unable to say what that is or who the players will be because there are so many of them. I completely get what you say about Obama and his current predicament. The next few months are going to be critical. Your analysis of the current situation is spot on.

Thanks for posting the groovy music Taxi. Love that song

The Terror Wrist

Hi Taxi. I just tried a few YouTube searches. It's absolutely true. I couldn't find one single video of Israeli brutality since 4 weeks ago and not one Palestinian resistance video since 8 weeks ago. There appears to be no doubt that these videos have been removed as soon as they were uploaded. It wouldn't surprise me if they begin systematically removing all the previous ones too. there were reports that meetings about this had recently taken place between certain Israeli ministers (such as Hotevely) and Google probably with lots of help and influence from the American zionist brotherhood. This is seriously fucking depressing Everyone needs to complain to Google as a matter of urgency

Cyborg of Galilee

Wow Taxi! After reading this just now for the first time I'm amazed, humbled and bedazzled. What a talent you are. Your divine use of the written word leaves me at a complete loss of my own. Bintbiba and Sean have done a much better job above I will read again and again as it deserves and try and return with a modicum of coherence. Thank you for feeding our minds

Merry Christmas from Arabia!

A great question. Hopefully someone can explain it. You just reminded me of a Lebanese wedding I attended in West London about 7 years ago. The venue was full of families, with kids running around all over the place. Suddenly, out of nowhere a whole load of very delightful scantily clad belly dancers hit the floor in what can only be described as quite a provocative display.  ALL the men had a very hard time keeping their eyes where they were supposed to be. But I don't remember seeing or feeling any of the women being pissed off about it. Great question. Looking forward to the explanation

War, Indifference, Empathy

December 28, 2015 12:57 am
Incredible penmanship Taxi. Couldn't agree more with Bintbiba and Dennis above The future is indeed bleak. The psychopaths have all the power and money. They control everything, most crucially they are able to control and manipulate the way the majority of the 99% think. And it's this which gives them the ability to carry out their evil deeds in broad daylight under the indifferent eyes of the ignorant, misinformed and completely unaware masses trapped in the matrix. Their divide and rule tactics are working perfectly; blame the Shias, blame the Sunnis, blame the Muslims, blame the immigrants, blame the Palestinians and then blame single mothers. They are indeed eroding our sense of empathy and the masses are now almost immune to the misery and suffering of all the victims of their sadistic power lust. Our empathy is what separates us from them because psychopaths have no empathy at all. It keeps us human and we have to preserve it like oxygen. "it could very well be that empathy is the only saviour of mankind" Never a truer word spoken. Thank you and may your message be spread far and wide. I have shared this with many today.
