Plato’s Too is Changing Design/Theme

Greetings dear readers and friends.  You’ll all forgive the current technical intrusions on Plato’s website – this will only be for a few more days: my techie is working on installing a new theme at the moment.  The old streamlined, clean ‘look’ will remain the same (you know me and my hate of clutter and net-noise!).  I’ve had to change theme as the one that I was using got old and its designers stopped updating the plugins – this was causing much grief for the lone, non-techie administrator (me).

Considering the seismic events in Jerusalem of late, of course I will be writing something about it soon as the technical work on the site itself is completed.  Actually, I plan to write about the geopolitical overview in the region and this includes, of course, the new developments on the status of Jerusalem.

I’m not sure if the comment section to this article is yet functioning – but keep checking in for the comment box installation if you want to leave a comment – I’m expecting it to be fixed in the next 24 hours.

I trust everyone is well and enjoying their lives.  I certainly am!  Especially thrilled with Trump’s Jerusalem announcement.  I can’t tell you how happy I get when Israel makes a dumb move – and in this case, more than dumb… suicidal!  Yaaay!  What a godsend – what a golden opportunity!!!

Take care y’all – see you around in a few days.

Plato’s Infinite Scroll

So here it is:  your very own eternal ring of fire.  Feel free to hang here anytime and share your thoughts and links to your heart’s content.

The mic is yours, the stage is yours – everything and nothing here is yours heh.  Think of it as visiting a garden of knowledge and delight.  Or think of it as an asylum where the doctors have left the building.  Think of it even as a quaint refuge or as a goddamn inconsequential hellhole.  So long as you’re ‘thinking’, then that’s all that matters.

Enjoy your life and your freedom of speech!

April Pow Wow – The Hour of Blossom

Once again, hardly any ‘new’ news today, and generally speaking, there’s no ‘action’ of any consequence going on right now, not stateside and not globally  –  the media is, as per usual, full of regurgitation and variations on old themes, the hasbara factory is same-same-same (oh tedium!); plus I have a house full of visiting Brits this weekend so my computer time is limitato (that’s Italian for ‘limited’).  I will still endeavor to post up the good stuff that I have time to read on the interwebs… and I also have a half finished new article that I’ll resume working on again once my guests depart and the farmhouse is nice and quiet again – I could have finished this article a couple of days ago but man the weather has been so utterly gorgeous here after a long month of March rains that I’ve ended up instead chilling in a citrus grove on a lush carpet of springtime flora and reading Hart Crane – so drunk on the heavy scent of orange blossom and birdsong that I simply couldn’t be bothered with the world or even with my writing.  Peh.  It’s just the way it is with me.

Plato’s March Pow Wow

So I briefly scanned through today’s headlines and so far, there’s nothing of significance or consequence to post up or report on.  Much regurgitation of news, or silly spins on the week’s headlines is what’s gurgling in the media pipes today.  Plus, I could use some disconnect from the world time myself as well.  Yes, yet again, I’m feeling bored but brilliant.  What will I be doing today instead?  Well, it’s drizzling outside so I’m staying in bed, watching a stack of movies and eating toast and honey – a very pleasant R&R practice I learned when I lived back in rainy England.

Cyborg of Galilee

Having spent much time hiking the unspoiled wilds of Galilee this past three years, I would often find my thoughts wandering outside of the realm of politics and into the realm of the essential human condition.  I would sometimes return from these pathless and rarely tread terrains filled with otherworldly ideas, and occasionally I would write down these notions purely for the pleasure of it.  I would like to share with you, my readers, a story that I wrote after one such walk.  Here I have to inform you that despite the ‘Galilee’ being central to my tale, this piece has absolutely nothing to do with the current political crisis taking place in the region – you will not find any mention of Palestine or Israel in this post.  What you’re about to read is but a fictional drama that I conjured, inspired by the desolate parts of the Galilee landscape and the animal life that inhabits it.

I humbly present you ‘Cyborg of Galilee’, a poetic drama in three parts, and I encourage you to read through it in one sitting, so as to get the full intended dramatic effect.  Thank you.

I Read The News Today – Oh Dear

Today, Abu Dhabi confirmed that as per its invitation, Israel will imminently be setting up commercial offices in the heart of Abu Dhabi.  It’s nice to see Muslim Zionists and Jewish Zionists getting it on in public now.  If this trend in veracity continues, Wikileaks will soon become obsolete.

The Emirates, as a combined military force, was also today exposed for purchasing 450 Colombian mercenaries and shipping them off to Yemen to kill the poorest of Arabs there.  They did that because when they sent their own (Pakistani dual-citizen) army to Yemen before, their soldiers got sent back in bodybags.  They won’t be doing that again any time soon.  But they’re filthy rich enough that a single ruling Emiratee family can go shopping for soldiers from any war mall in the world.

Pow Wow – An Autumn Conundrum

I’ve woken up this morning with little enthusiasm for the news.  This tends to happen every now and then.  Therefore action will be slow here on Plato’s for the next several days.  I will get busy instead with planting my winter veggie garden and taking nice autumn hikes with my dogs before the serious rains hit the Levant.

There wouldn’t be this gap in action on the site if I had some help.  Or if the model of the site was not so demanding on a daily basis, ie the site being a newsstand and a newsstand’s nature is in providing fresh daily news.

Plato’s Pow Wow – “I Read The News Today, Oh Boy”

What a load of rubbish news headlines today.  Regurgitation of inconsequential headlines or endless tired propaganda – both sides of the aisle.  Of course there’s much going on behind the scenes  – much to do with Russia in the middle east etc, but no original analysis by any respected or controversial journalist has been penned or published in the past 24 hours.  Some days it’s overwhelming how much good reads are out there – but not today, no sirree not today.

Plato’s Pow Wow

Did the headline get your attention?  Well good cuz I’d like to WELCOME EVERYBODY  to Plato’s first Pow Wow!

Every so often, I will open a ‘Pow Wow’ thread for life’s general profundities, ridiculous normalities and of course, its splendid grotesques.  A so-called ‘open thread’ where, well, where anyone (except for you, Chas) can talk about anything they want.  Use the comment section like a community room to share Palestine or non-Palestine topics or personal stories.  Anything goes.  But it’s best that you come here chilled in the brain, warm in the fingertips and armed with either a Pow or a Wow factor.

Welcome to the New Plato’s Everybody!

Woohoo! A little Irish gig is in order here!

As you can see, I have kept the minimalism design and added a drop-down menu, found top left hand of homepage (a stack of three lines as symbol).

For the good reader/visitor, I have archived everything methodically now, please refer to the menu when searching for articles by me or by my NewsStand.  The archives are now divided into two categories: ‘Taxi’s Articles’ and ‘NewsStand Articles“.

An Iranian Sunday

I just wanted to put it out there that today, on the eve of the historic Iran nuke deal signing, the western media led by barking, frothing, hysterical Netanyahu, sure is full of dumb, downer headlines and endless ragging on Obama and Iran and even Putin thrown in (Rubio challenged Putin in his Vegas speech, lol) – but mostly, our msm is taking dirty aim at Iran.

BUSTED!

A few days ago, Jamie Dettmer wrote a piece for the Daily Beast: “Shaky Assad Sacks an Intel Chief”: https://platosguns.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/shaky-assad-sacks-an-intel-chief-jamie-dettmerthe-daily-beast/ce

In his article Dettmer claims that Bashar’s top intelligence guy had been sacked after a string of failures on the battlefield and some kinda weird infighting with the Iranians.  Throughout the article, Dettmer was basically goading his readers into believing that Bashar’s grip on power was “shaky”, slipping  etc.

Plato’s Guns Is One Month Old Today – Plans For Expansion

I would like to earnestly thank all visitors to my blog.  Please take this opportunity to give me feedback in the comments section, if you have any  – I’ll do my best to get to it.  I hope your experience at Plato’s has been both informative and enjoyable.

At this stage of the blog’s development, I will now be presenting more original articles and analysis by various bloggers and writers, as well as occasional pieces by yours truly.

I am very honored today to present you with the  first writer/blogger, QuestionMark, whose first article will appear today on Plato’s.   I have known QuestionMark for many years and although he has been a ‘retired’ blogger for a good 5 years, I have managed to persuade him to now come forth and share with us some of his keen insights into the middle east. QuestionMark is an expert on East-West relations and diplomacy, as well as Arab political history.  He is fluent in both English and Arabic, and he daily monitors both Arab and Western media.  Please feel free to pose any question to him regarding the ME – he is a generous and generously informed gentlemen.
